Mitigazione
responsabile scientifico: Paolo Foraboschi
Mitigation of seismic hazard for
buildings with cultural value (ICAR/09)
leader:
Paolo Foraboschi
The
research focuses on the seismic behavior of existing masonry buildings. The aim is the definition of a hierarchy of importance among the
mechanical properties of the building materials and the building features able
to influence the seismic behavior of the considered buildings. In so doing the
study has a dual purpose: guide the choice of intervention strategies and direct
the process of knowledge, therefore, the execution of the instrumental
investigations and no.
The
study was conducted by examining the seismic behavior of some prototypes of
building defined with reference to the geometrical, material and constructive
features of the historical buildings of the town of Concordia sulla Secchia (Modena, Italy),
affected by the earthquakes of 20 and 29 May 2012 and already the subject of
studies conducted by the University Iuav of Venice. The results obtained have
their generality, since the material and constructive features of the analyzed buildings
are common to the buildings of many historic centers of other Italian cities.
