rappresentano differenti possibili Venezie.
Accessibility in Venice was in twentieth
century the core of an intense debate that compared the needs of collective
mobility, also the big infrastructure projects, with the history of Venice, its
monuments and its character of insularity .
The infrastructure identifies the system of
relations between the Venice island and the mainland,
establishing hierarchies and roles between the parts of the city. Projects,
studies and researches on Venice’s infrastructure can be read as possible
approaches to the "Venice problem" understood in its broadest sense
of urban social and economic issues.
The research examines and documents design
contests - some promoted by “La Biennale di Venezia”,
realized and unrealized projects, investigations of teachers and
masters of the Iuav, and selects in particular those proposals that investigate
the possible relationship between the ancient and the new. These projects,
through infrastructure architecture, reflect on urban form and system
lagoon-city-hinterland, proposing architectures that represent different
“possible Venice”.
